DTI to investigate fake medicines in PH

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (Ipophl), will investigate the proliferation of counterfeit drugs in the country following a United States report that identified the Philippines as a hub for fake medicines.

Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual said the sources of the counterfeit medicines was a particular problem. 'It could be entering here from outside, not necessarily produced in the country. So, it needs to be investigated thoroughly,' he said.
