Food stamp program can work, but requires careful attention

SOCIAL Welfare and Development Secretary Rexlon 'Rex' Gatchalian announced earlier this week that the department is currently developing the Food Stamp Program (FSP) for rollout beginning in mid-2024. This is a welcome development and can be a substantial tool to help alleviate poverty and hunger in the Philippines, progress on which has been largely stalled since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic three years ago.
