ON Feb. 26, 2022, the nation celebrated with more than a hundred masses the 100th birth anniversary of Jose Wright Diokno. Millennials and Gen-Zers may only have heard his name as the street name near the SM Mall of Asia, but it may be inspiring to tell the story of how he became the 'Father of Human Rights Advocacy in the Philippines.' Rights most of us enjoy today.

Because despite being, perhaps, on top of the world as senator of the Republic, his life changed on the night of Sept. 22, 1972.
