GOVERNMENT troops seized the camp of the IS-inspired Maute group in Lanao del Sur on Friday but failed to capture its leader and his men, an official said.Col. Romeo Brawner Jr., commander of the Philippine Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade, said three Maute members were confirmed dead while three soldiers were wounded in the 10-hour battle in Sultan Dumalondong that started on Thursday.Maute leader Owayda Benito Marohombsar alias Abu Dar and his men escaped.Brawner said soldiers saw foxholes, running trenches, personal belongings and the black IS flag in the terrorists' lair.At the same time, a training camp for minor recruits was also found.Brawner said pursuit operations are ongoing as of posting time.
