RETIRED Lt. Gen. Jacinto Ligot, former military comptroller, has applied for probation before the Sandiganbayan First Division instead of serving six years of jail time over his perjury conviction.
Ligot, who was convicted for failing to declare pieces of property in his Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) from 1998 to 2003, said that he was not among those disqualified offenders as enumerated in Section 9 of Presidential Decree 968 or the Probation Law.
