THE Department of Trade and Industry has vowed to help enforce the policies covered in Republic Act 11337, or the Innovative Startup Act, to encourage more entrepreneurs in setting up their businesses. In a statement on Monday, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said the law “is part of [the government’s] vision of a comfortable life for all Filipinos. DTI commits to implement the law to foster an environment conducive to smarter entrepreneurs.” Signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in April, RA 1137 aims to help startups and their enablers by offering incentives and financial assistance. The law prompted the creation of the Philippine Startup Development Program to support the research and development of startups in the country.
