The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) missed its 2018 collection target on the back of lower-than-expected revenue on income, value-added and excise taxes.

In a presentation during a House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means hearing held on Tuesday, BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay told lawmakers that the tax bureau netted P1.961 trillion last year, up 10.1 percent from a year earlier.
