THE government on Monday committed to help local mango farmers currently reeling from oversupply and falling prices of the commodity due to El Niño phenomenon.
In an interview, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said his department, through its Agriculture Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS) would launch a marketing campaign in Metro Manila for local mangoes next week, following the request of mango growers for government support in selling their harvest after processors dropped their buying price due to good harvest season.
