NINE farmers – men and women, young and old – were murdered in Sagay City, Negros Occidental on October 20. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time and for the wrong reasons: they were occupying land that wasn’t theirs, were shot dead in the evening of the day that they arrived, and their poverty and desperation considered, the invitation to till the land was irresistible.
