MANILA, Philippines — PLDT capped its 2025 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Champions League campaign with a loss over the tall Kazakhstan squad in the quarterfinals, 25-13, 25-22, 25-20, on Thursday, April 24, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
The High Speed Hitters failed to keep up with the nine-time Kazakhstan champion Zhetysu VC as main gunner Tatyana Nikitina fired 19 points to send PLDT packing.
Karyna Denysova and Yuliia Dymar added 15 and 11 points, respectively for the visiting team.
Filipino-Canadian Savi Davison led the scoring for PLDT with 13 points, while Cuban import Wilma Salas made 11 points.
High Speed Hitters team captain Kath Arado tallied 17 excellent digs.
"You can see in the game, their height... It's a little bit heavy, still, it should not be an excuse. I think we just lacked exposure, and that's what we want," said PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort, noting that the Kazakhstan team has a height average of 6 feet.
