(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines — Six Chinese vessels, one an aircraft carrier, were spotted off Northern Luzon, the Philippine Navy said on Thursday.

Aircraft carrier Shandong (CV-17) was monitored at 2.23 nautical miles southwest of Babuyan Island on April 22, 2025 while the second ship, a Type 815A Electronic surveillance vessel (AGI-797), was spotted about 33.11 nautical miles northwest of Dalupiri Island or 38.91 nautical miles northwest of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. Four other Chinese vessels provided support.
