Top seed Samson Chiu Chin Lim of Manila ruled the open division while Luben Vicente of Sta. Fe, Romblon emerged champion in the kiddie division in the 1st Banton Chess Tournament held at the Masonic Lodge Muog Number 89 on April 12, 2025 in Banton, Romblon.
Lim scored 5.5 points in six rounds to claim the open title and the P15,000 award while Vicente, who finished with a perfect score of 6.0 points, pocketed P3,000 for his feat.
