Col. Dionisio Apas Jr., Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) director, reveals on April 15, 2025 that in their investigation a black Mitsubishi Montero was discovered in the area where Albuera mayoral candidate Kerwin Espinosa was shot, and that after the incident, the vehicle was moved to a compound where the seven persons of interest were found. Apas said that although the paraffin tests conducted on a colonel, a lieutenant colonel, a staff sergeant, three corporals, and a patrolwoman were negative for gunpowder residue, the 14 firearms in their possession and which were turned over to authorities showed that they had been fired previously although their connection to the Albuera shooting has not been determined.
