STAKEHOLDERS pledged to police their ranks to prevent profiteering from pork, following a renewed agreement with the Department of Agriculture (DA) on the stricter implementation of a maximum suggested retail price (MSRP) for the commodity.

The commitment was made in a consultative meeting between DA officials and the swine industry players. Since early April, the DA and the Department of Trade and Industry have found an "alarmingly low compliance" rate with the MSRP among retailers during market inspections.
