AT a recent summit at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), speakers urged students to take the lead in using artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly. The event, titled "The Power of Communications," was organized by the AI Centre of Excellence (ACE) and focused on the ethical use of AI in media and public communication, amid growing concerns about misinformation.

Ana Pista, co-founder of ACE and chief executive of Ardent Communications, emphasized the need for communicators to understand both the opportunities and risks AI presents. "We are at a pivotal moment," Pista said. "The rise of AI presents both immense opportunities and significant ethical challenges. We need to equip the next generation of communicators with the tools and the moral compass to navigate this complex landscape."
