LEARNING from past disasters that caused billions in losses, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has launched the Cagayan de Oro River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning System (CDORBFFWS), upgrading flood forecasting in Molugan, El Salvador City, and Cagayan de Oro City.
CDORBFFWS features more durable telemetered rainfall and water level monitoring stations and two X-Band radars, strategically placed across the river basin. These provide real-time data to DOST-Pagasa, enabling accurate and timely flood bulletins.
