MALACAÑANG on Monday maintained that the government's plans to procure more air assets are not meant to provoke other countries but are part of its commitment to modernize the armed forces.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro made the reiteration in reaction to the statement made by Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez that the acquisition of F-16 fighter jets is meant to counter China's aggressive actions in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
