Inflation decelerates to 1.8%

INFLATION hit a near five-year low in March, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Friday, dropping to 1.8 percent from 2.1 percent a month earlier on slower price growth for both food and non-food items.

'The downtrend in the overall inflation ... was primarily brought about by the slower annual increment in the index of food and non-alcoholic beverages at 2.2 percent in March 2025 from 2.6 percent in the previous month,' the PSA said in a statement.
