Hedcor, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, launched a firefighting training program in Barangay Santiago and Maluko in Bukidnon, together with the Aboitiz Foundation and the Bureau of Fire Protection – Region 10. In these remote barangay (villages), emergency services for fire outbreaks are difficult to access, considering the difficult terrain and the lack of proper firefighting tools. Recognizing the first minutes of a fire emergency as critical, the training prepared barangay police officers and local volunteers to become first responders, equipping them with the skills needed to control fires, protect lives, and minimize damage before professional firefighters arrive. Hedcor also donated critical firefighting gear, including helmets, gloves, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers. Hedcor operates 23 run-of-river hydropower systems and six solar power facilities across the Philippines.
