VIETNAM has granted SpaceX approval to conduct trials of its Starlink satellite connectivity service, signaling a major step toward expanding internet access across the country. The US company will be allowed to run a pilot program for up to 600,000 users, with the trial set to be completed by 2030.
According to government officials, the move aligns with Vietnam's digital transformation goals and comes with no restrictions on foreign ownership or financial contributions, in a report by Michael Carroll posted on Mobile World Live on March 26. The country has also authorized local mobile operators to access Starlink's low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites through licensed radio frequencies and equipment.
