BASIC Energy Corp. on Wednesday said that it would begin construction of its Cadiz 1 solar power project in Negros Occidental after securing a certificate of authority (COA) from the Department of Energy.

"This milestone reinforces our commitment to expanding renewable energy solutions in the Philippines," Basic Energy Vice Chairman and CEO Oscar De Venecia Jr. said in a statement.
