THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has told financial institutions under its supervision to guard against the potential proliferation of vote-buying, vote-selling and abuse of state resources ahead of the May midterm elections.
In a memorandum signed by Deputy Governor Chuchi Fonacier, the BSP called on banks and non-bank financial institutions to enhance surveillance and monitoring to prevent their systems from being misused for illicit election-related transactions.
