THE national government's gross borrowings rose to P213.14 billion in January, up 4.9 percent from the P203.15 trillion recorded a year earlier, the Bureau of the Treasury's latest cash operations report showed.

Domestic debt accounted for the bulk at P152.2 billion, higher than the year-ago P141.51 billion. Almost all, or P140 billion, came from the issuance from fixed-rate Treasury bonds.
