IN an article published Feb. 27 in this section of The Manila Times, Calvin Angelo Garcia, a Grade 6 student at Muir Woods Academy in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, wrote about mental health issues and Filipino youth.

"It would be great if school authorities could act early to provide a secure atmosphere where students feel free to open up on their difficulties without worrying about the implications," Garcia said. "Promoting discussions about mental health and normalizing the practice of seeking assistance is a good approach that will need cooperation and assistance from teachers, guidance counselors and administrators."
