CARITAS Philippines, the social action arm of the Catholic bishops' conference, has urged Senate President Francis Escudero to heed the growing calls for the upper chamber to begin the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte as soon as possible, the church-based group said in their statement.
Instead of waiting until July or after the May 2025 elections, Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo of Kidapawan said, "Once an impeachment complaint is filed, government institutions must act swiftly and decisively."
