50 Chinese ships swarm at Kalayaan

A SURVEILLANCE flight conducted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on Thursday over the Kalayaan Island Group in the West Philippine Sea revealed the presence of a China Coast Guard (CCG) vessel and more than 50 Chinese Maritime Militia (CMM) ships in the area.

Commo. Jay Tarriela, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesman for the West Philippine Sea, said the surveillance mission was carried out by two BFAR planes based in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
