TARIFFS on merchandise imports announced by US President Donald Trump will likely have a minimal impact on the Philippine economy, an S&P Global Ratings analyst said, but this could change if Washington's protectionist policies extend to services.
"I think, thankfully for the Philippines, the export component of the economy is not large," S&P Global Ratings lead analyst Ivan Tan said in a briefing on Thursday.
