The peso rose anew on Thursday, strengthening by 14 centavos to close at P57.915 against the dollar, but the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) lost 53.25 points, or 0.87 percent, to end the day at 6,066.63.
The currency opened trading at P58.03:$1 and ranged from P57.915 to P58.05. Volume reachedP1.412 billion, higher than the previous day's P1.25 billion.
