THE Philippine Nickel Industry Association (PNIA) in a statement acknowledged the importance of a new administrative order from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), which requires mining companies to adapt the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) in their respective social development and management programs (SDMP).
In 2024, the PNIA released a follow-up to its first SDG report published in 2020. The nickel mining group said its members remain committed to the SDGs, particularly in environmental protection, community well-being, and inclusive development.
