THE collective nonperforming loan (NPL) ratio of Philippine banks hit a one-year low in December 2024, according to data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

The proportion of bad loans, which covers past-due debts in which the principal or interest is unpaid for 90 days or more after the due date, eased a bit to 3.27 percent from 3.54 percent in November 2024.
