MANILA, Philippines — The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) approved an "alternative" Filipino version of the Hail Mary prayer.

The "Ave Maria" was approved during the CBCP's plenary assembly as an alternative to the Tagalog-based "Aba Ginoong Maria."
