MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ronald dela Rosa took a swipe at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s comment that some of the candidates running in this year's midterm elections were not qualified enough for the position but yet were allowed to file their certificates of candidacy.

At the campaign kickoff of his own political party, the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas, on Tuesday, Marcos likened these senatorial aspirants to people who happened to buy vinegar from a store and instantly became candidates for senator.
