MEDIARTRIX-UST is set to dazzle the stage with its original musical, "Kable-Kable," written by Alexander Isaiah Samonte and Liara Elisha Turano, managed by Niña Marie De Guzman and Christine Jade Del Rosario, and directed by Enrico Byron Sacramento and Jeri Aliana Ramos.
The two-act musical runs for two hours, featuring 10 original songs performed by a live band.
Set in the dystopian Bayan ng Silawan, where the Glare shields citizens from shadowy monsters, the story follows Eli, a Glare Knight devoted to protecting the light. As the town faces its darkest hour — the Glare's destruction — Eli's faith is tested. Blinded by the brightest light, the people must confront hidden truths and embrace a new dawn.
Samonte shared that "Kable-Kable" was inspired by tangled electric wires, symbolizing society's interconnected struggles.
"Our lives and problems are entangled — one pulling another into chaos," he explained.
Director Sacramento echoed this, hoping audiences recognize the deeper issues behind everyday symbols.
"We want to inspire future theater artists," Sacramento added.
"Kable-Kable" premieres Feb. 11, 12, and 15, 2025, at the UST Albertus Magnus Auditorium.
The production is co-presented by 933 Creatives and welcomes both Thomasian and non-Thomasian audiences.
