Amazon reports strong earnings in Q4

SAN FRANCISCO, California — E-commerce giant Amazon reported on Thursday its fourth-quarter (Q4) net income nearly doubled to $20 billion, driven by strong holiday sales, but its outlook for the coming quarter came in less than hoped for by analysts.

After earnings dropped, shares in Amazon were down by more than 3 percent in after-hours trading on Wall Street, with the high cost of artificial intelligence (AI) also weighing on investors.
