(UPDATE) PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has extended the term of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rommel Francisco Marbil by four months, Malacañang said Thursday.

The president, through Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, signed on Feb. 4 a memorandum extending Marbil's term, which would take effect on Feb. 7, the day he reached the mandatory retirement age of 56.
