NUUK Taal Lake in Batangas offers a unique example of how leisure architecture is responding to the natural adversities that are certain to arrive this year. The threat of super typhoons and volcanic eruptions around its area has made it embrace resilience as a guiding design principle.
At the same time, the design elements of this family vacation house-turned-luxury boutique hotel remain intact. Opening in December 2022, its vision to its guests has been to be a "home away from home." Changing very little of the original resthouse, the architecture is an ingenious confluence of Danish and ancient Ilokano styles, reflective of the former owners' cultural roots.
