THE report by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Thursday of the gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate for the fourth quarter and full year of 2024 was mildly disappointing, coming in below the government's target and the consensus forecast of most analysts. Our policymakers should take the result for the clear warning it was that economic growth is becoming increasingly vulnerable to shocks from the effects of climate change. While our leaders do seem to be aware of this, they must make climate resilience a much higher priority in planning.
