Philippine banks will benefit should monetary authorities implement fewer policy rate cuts this year, Fitch Ratings said, as this will boost net interest margins (NIM).

The debt watcher, in a report released on Sunday, said that while it expected most of Southeast Asia's large economies to cut interest rates in 2025, "we believe banks in some regional systems would benefit if the decline in rates is shallower than we expect."
