GRAMMARAMA!

JUST for context and not to toot my own horn, I started my social media 'career,' if you will, from scratch during the pandemic back in mid-2020 and grew my following to now more than 1 million warm bodies on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram all organically. 'To toot your own horn' is an idiom that simply means to brag and is often used in the negative, like 'not to toot my own horn.' Anyway, going back, when people ask me for advice on how to grow their reach on social media, I would always say, among other things, that they should be authentic and know how to effectively ride on trends. I know you've heard this 'be authentic' speech a thousand times before, but listen up and bring down those eyebrows. You must be true to yourself and focus on what really interests you and once you have put your finger on it, learn how to ride on trends in your own skin and use your own style. For example, I have always been passionate about grammar, and this was what I concentrated on right from the beginning. For one, I knew it was something sustainable, and I could do for a long time. It wasn't as if I was putting on a mask on social media. I was just really being myself and doing it for fun more than the views and follows which came soon after. A little short of five years later, I have started to find a deeper purpose for my existence on social media and my little platform, and that is to advocate spreading and democratizing good grammar among Filipinos because I believe that having good communication skills put people in the best position to improve their lives. And I thank you.

P.S. If you have been waiting for a sign to put up your own channel and put yourself out there, you bet this was it. Go for it. May the odds be ever in your favor.
