MY search for the original meaning of the term "useful idiots" has been rewarded. I first encountered the term while listening to a podcast on YouTube by "China Unscripted"; one panelist remarked casually that China has numerous useful idiots in the West and in various countries, mostly journalists and academics, to propagandize for the Chinese Communist Party and Xi Jinping.
