THE country posted a $54.22-billion merchandise trade deficit last year — wider than the $52.59 billion recorded in 2023 — as imports increased and exports fell, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed.

Exports totaled $73.21 billion in 2024, declining from $73.62 billion a year earlier, while imports saw a modest increase to $127.43 billion from $126.21 billion.
