Animals residing at the Houston Zoo were delighted on Jan. 21, 2025 by a rare snowfall, with some experiencing this climate event for the first time. The Zoo in Texas was among the places that had to close due to record snowfall. According to its statement, 66 staff members remained at the premises to care for the animals. It reopened on Jan. 23. The rare deep freeze in the wake of a historic winter storm that swept across the US South this week will linger until Jan. 26.
