MANILA, Philippines — A bicameral conference committee on Wednesday approved Congress' final version of the bill that sought to turn the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) into a department.

"Finally, after almost 40 years, Congress has completed the Constitution's mandate of creating an independent economic planning agency with the stature of a full Cabinet department", Albay 2nd District Rep. Joey Salceda said in a statement.
