THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) is celebrating its 126th anniversary, focusing on modernizing the maritime sector, protecting seafarers' rights and safeguarding the country's coastal territories.

The P16.9 billion New Cebu International Container Port (NCICP) in Consolacion, Cebu, is central to these efforts. The project aims to decongest the Cebu Base Port, expand cargo capacity and lower logistics costs. A 1,365-meter access road and a 300-meter offshore bridge will streamline transport links, with completion set for November 2027. This infrastructure will ensure the efficient flow of goods, reducing carbon emissions through optimized logistics.
