Gigantic INC peace rally jolts Congress and Malacañang

COUNTERPOINT

DESPITE its pretended silence and outright indifference, the mammoth and unprecedented rally for peace, in support of President Marcos Jr.'s call for Congress to stop the impeachment proceedings against VP Inday Sara, stunned and jolted the present dispensation.

The nine-and-a-half-hour gathering that saw a gigantic sea of humanity trooping to the Luneta Grandstand on Jan. 13, 2025 commenced at 8 a.m. and ended at 5:30 p.m. It was initiated by the powerful religious group Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC). The Philippine National Police estimated the crowd at 1.8 million, composed of INC members coming from different places in Luzon, as well as other groups representing a cross-section of society.
