The nation witnessed recently two distinct religious gatherings held four days apart: the "Traslacion," or Feast of the Black Nazarene, organized by the Roman Catholic Church, and the National Rally for Peace, spearheaded by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC). The first was a demonstration of strong faith; the other, a voluble expression of the faithful. One knocks on the gates of heaven; the other bangs on the doors of Congress. Both events drew millions of devotees to the historic Quirino Grandstand; believers argue these brought immense blessings to them. Also, both events undeniably caused massive disruptions in the lives of many.
