The program — part of the PCIC's Agricultural Producers Protection Plan — provides insurance for enrolled agricultural producers, farmers, fisherfolk and other stakeholders in case of death due to accident, natural causes, assault or murder.
Through the Information and Fisherfolk Coordination Unit, the BFAR has enrolled 6,800 Bantay Dagat volunteers to the program this year, 47 percent higher than 2024's 3,545 beneficiaries.
