THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) recently organized an orientation in Santiago City, focusing on biodiversity conservation and sustainable mineral resource management for four Cagayan Valley mining companies.

DENR Region 2 Executive Director Gwendolyn Bambalan said that they discussed with the mining firms the provisions of DENR Administrative Order (DAO) 2022-04, known as Enhancing Biodiversity Conservation and Protection in Mining Operations. DAO 2022-04 aims to institutionalize a science-based approach for the rehabilitation of disturbed ecosystems in mining areas along with additional measures to safeguard the environment.
