SENATE Bill 2898 and House Bill 10755, or the proposal to extend land lease terms for foreign investors to 99 years, will worsen the problem of landlessness among the agricultural population, the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) said in a statement.
The national peasants group said that, based on data, seven out of 10 Filipino farmers have no ownership or rights over the land they are tilling, noting that rice farms are also shrinking in size and productivity.
