(UPDATE) CONTROVERSIAL basketball player John Amores gained P67,500 after pawning his Jose Rizal University (JRU) jersey and Vice President Sara Duterte's letter addressed to him to Jayson Luzadas, more popularly known as "Boss Toyo" of "Pinoy Pawnstars."

Amores sold the JRU jersey he wore in a game against College of Saint Benilde in NCAA Season 98 back in November 2022 when he infamously charged at the opposing team's bench and punched multiple players.

Days after the incident, Duterte wrote a letter to Amores as she gave the player words of encouragement and told him that he has a friend at the Office of the Vice President.

Initially, Amores priced the jersey and the letter together at P200,000 but Boss Toyo bargained for a lower price, saying that even a signed jersey of NBA superstar Steph Curry can be bought from a range of P70,000 to P80,000.

"A Steph Curry signed jersey can be bought for around P70,000 to 80,000, that's a Steph Curry jersey already, while this one is just a controversial jersey," Boss Toyo explained in the episode of "Pinoy Pawnstars" posted on Facebook on Jan. 13.

Ultimately, both parties agreed for a price of P67,500 for the two items.

The 25-year-old Amores said that he's planning to use the money to build a business while he's away from the PBA.

Previously suiting up for NorthPort, Amores could not play in the PBA or any professional league anymore as his professional license got revoked by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).

GAB canceled Amores' license for his involvement in a shooting incident following a basketball game in Lumban, Laguna, where he and his brother were charged with attempted homicide last September.

They were released after posting bail.
